Don’t know what to do with your body while you’re hooping?
Feel like your hooping lacks grace, flow or sass?
Trying to do wedgies but you just suck at them?
This workshop is for you!
Sunday 18th August
Centrestage Performing Arts School – 15 Albert St, Brunswick East
Teacher: Jade aka Jane Fondle
We’re going to cover a LOT in this 2.5hr workshop. Half of it will be focussed on finding your own groove with the hoop so you can chill out and rock out while busting out your favourite hoop tricks.
We’re going to dance, we’re gonna move, gonna make you sweat… baby!
I’m not going to teach you how to dance like me. Whether you like to move to a fast or a slow beat, I’m going to help you unlock how you can dance with the hoop, exactly like you.
Then we’re going to learn all about those tricky little tricks- wedgies! Just because I love all things crotch 😉
You’ll learn wedgie variations and combinations so we can wedge them into your hoop dance ‘flow’. You’re going to prefer a poly pro hoop for this one but if you don’t have one, they will be available for you to use at the workshop.
This workshop is for all levels of movers and hoopers, there’s no right or wrong way with dance and no better time to start learning wedgies than NOW! You don’t need to have any prior dance experience spanning beyond dance floors and you can be a beginner hula hooper.
We will be creating a supportive, inclusive and non-judgemental (and fun!) space together.

About the teacher:
Jade (or Fondle to you) has been hula hooping on and off for 15 years and has been dancing her whole life. As a teenager she was a Sport Aerobics champion – it’s a weird sport, look it up. Jade didn’t have any formal dance training until she studied Contemporary Dance for 3 years as her major for her Sport Coaching degree at Uni. She felt overwhelmed for the whole first year, surrounded by trained dancers and she spent much of that year flailing around at the back, trying to keep up with everyone and feeling very intimidated and uncoordinated. Sometime during her 2nd year Jade got out of her silly little 19 year-old head and into her body and discovered the way that her body liked to move. Then she finally started to have a good time instead of feeling like a failure.
Jade then went on to study bellydance, hip-hop dance, breakdance and capoeira. Soon after, she discovered yoga and the wonderful world of circus arts, including hula hooping. Since then she’s gone back to her roots and back to choreographing dances to 80s and 90s songs in her living room, often adding a hoop and becoming… Jane Fondle!
Known for putting the dance into hoop dance, Fondle draws from her variety of dance training and experience but never really knows what movements are going to come out of her until the music starts and her body starts moving. Knowing what it feels like to be ‘that uncoordinated one’ at the back of the class, she hopes to help other people to move from the back row to the middle of the dance floor!
Spaces are limited to just 15. This is a one-off event so don’t miss out!
